APS Welcomes Social Work Students from Bern University of Applied Sciences

On 8 September 2026, the Maria Grzegorzewska University welcomed a group of social work students from Bern University of Applied Sciences in Switzerland, accompanied by Professor Tobias Fritschi.

The visit was initiated by Dr Marta Mikołajczyk from the stitute of Pedagogy, whose teaching and research on homelessness attracted the interest of researchers and students from Bern.

As part of their visit, the students took part in a seminar on homelessness and attended a lecture by Dr Mikołajczyk. The seminar provided an opportunity to learn more about homelessness in Poland and to discuss the challenges surrounding social work and support for people experiencing homelessness.

The programme also offered the visitors an opportunity to learn more about the Maria Grzegorzewska University and its international activities. Dr Lidia Zabłocka-Żytka, Rector’s Representative for International Cooperation, presented the University's mission and profile.

Piotr Kaźmierczak from the International Cooperation Team introduced the opportunities available to international students through exchange programmes.
The visit also included a tour of the Maria Grzegorzewska Museum, led by Dr hab. Jacek Kulbak, offering the students an insight into the life, work and legacy of the founder and patron of our University.
We hope that the seminar and the visit will mark the beginning of further cooperation between the Maria Grzegorzewska University and Bern University of Applied Sciences, opening up new opportunities for joint teaching, research and academic exchange in the field of social work.
