Biography

• Prof. dr hab. Stefan M. Kwiatkowski dr h. c. multi – graduate of the Warsaw University of Technology (1971), doctorate at the Warsaw University of Technology (1975), habilitation at the University of Humboldt in Berlin (1989), professor in 1994.

  Head of the Department of Labor Pedagogy and Andragogy at the Maria Grzegorzewska University, Vice-Rector (2012-2016) and Rector (2016-2020) of this University; Vice Director of the Institute of Economic and Social Sciences of the Warsaw University of Technology (1987-1991); Director of the Institute for Educational Research in Warsaw (1993-2007), Chairman of the Scientific Council of the Institute for Educational Research (2010-2017); Chairman of the Committee of Pedagogical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences (2007-2011), from 2011 Deputy Chairman of the Committee of Pedagogical Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences, Scientific Secretary of the Forecast Committee "Poland 2000 plus" at the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences (2007), Deputy Chairman of the Committee for the Development of National Education of the Polish Academy of Sciences (2012-2014), Member of the Central Committee for Degrees and Titles (2011-2012), doctor honoris causa of the Pedagogical University of Krakow (2010) and the National Pedagogical University of M. Dragomanow in Kiev (2017), since 2003. foreign member of the National Academy of Pedagogical Sciences of Ukraine.

  Supervisor in 46 doctoral theses, reviewer in 123 doctoral and 38 postdoctoral theses, and in 18 proceedings for the conferment of the title of professor, as well as in 4 proceedings for the conferment of the title of doctor honoris causa; reviewer of 223 research projects; expert in the field of vocational education, co-author of the model of cognitive activities of students, co-author of the methodology for developing professional competence standards. Author of over 680 articles, author, co-author, scientific editor of 95 monographs. Manager of over 20 research projects on modeling students' cognitive activities, standards of professional competence, educational leadership, management in the education system and transfer of educational capital.

  International Labor Organization expert (1993); Member of the Advisory Team of the European Training Foundation (1997-2006); Expert of the State Accreditation Committee (2005-2011).

  Editor-in-chief of the quarterly "Edukacja" (2000-2011); Chairman of the Editorial Board: "Pedagogika Pracy" (1991-2009); Chairman of the Scientific Committee: "Journal of Continuing Education" (2015 -).

  He was awarded the Medal of the Commission of National Education (1984), the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (2001), the Officer's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (2008) and the Commander's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (2017); laureate of the award of the Minister of Science and Higher Education for lifetime achievement (2018).
