Language Lounge on the Maria Grzegorzewska University

We are delighted that we could host Prof. Chhanda Chakraborti from the School of Liberal Arts in Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur, India.

It was fascinating to learn about pedagogical and philosophical masters’ programmes for engineers, that are aimed at enhancement of creativity, reflection, critical thinking and ethical aspects of technical and design work. Professor met with our Vice-Rector for Development (prof. Anna Odrowaz-Coates) and visited our newly opened museum of Maria Grzegorzewska University.

The main point of the visit was an open lecture for our faculty and students dedicated to: "The Phenomenon of Systemic Negligence and its implications for Moral and Political Responsibility". The lecture was led by doctor Maria Wecker from the Institute of Psychology. The lecture attracted an international audience and the participants of the regular Language Lounge (EMPATHY project), as well as doctoral students from UwB (University of Bialystok).
After the exciting and informative presentation, which was thought-provoking about public responsibility and the blame culture, we had an opportunity to enhance our knowledge of Islam in Azerbaijan thanks to a short presentation by an intern from the Institute of Eastern Studies (Studium Europy Wschodniej, UW), Mrs. Ayisha Rahimova Afandiyeva.

Prof. Chhanda Chakraborti was intrigued by the heritage of the two important figures for our university: Maria Grzegorzewska and Janusz Korczak, and very open to cooperation.
