After the Inauguration of the 2025/2026 Academic Year – wrap-up

03-10-2025

The Rector of APS, Prof. Barbara Marcinkowska PhD, warmly welcomed guests, students and staff, and reminded them that APS has been carrying out Maria Grzegorzewska's mission for over a hundred years, promoting inclusive education, openness to diversity and respect for every human being.

She drew attention to the need to adapt education to changing social, technological and cultural realities. She emphasised the role of the university in preparing educators to work in diverse environments.

The Rector expressed her pride in the achievements of the academic staff and students, encouraging them to continue their involvement in the life of the university, scientific research and social activities.

She pointed to the growing international cooperation of APS and the importance of exchanging experiences in a global educational context.

A special place in the speech was given to welcoming first-year students, whom she wished courage, curiosity and passion in discovering the world of science.

Later in the Ceremony, members of the APS Community who passed away during the previous Academic Year were commemorated.

A letter from Minister Marcin Kulasek was read by Karolina Zioło-Pużuk, Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education. Minister Katarzyna Lubnauer then addressed the students and the University.

This was followed by the matriculation of newly admitted students and doctoral students, which included an oath and speeches by their representatives.

The highlight of the event was a lecture entitled ‘Pedagogy of Popular Culture’ given by Prof. Ryszard Koziołek, PhD, a Polish language and literature scholar, essayist, and Rector of the University of Silesia in Katowice.

The entire inauguration ceremony was accompanied by a performance by the APS Choir and the RZWIR Band conducted by Mr Adam Pietruszka.

We would like to thank everyone present for participating in this important event for the Academy and for contributing to its extraordinary, communal atmosphere. May the coming Academic Year be full of educational successes and scientific discoveries for the entire Academy Community!
