Eco Exhibition of young artists

03-07-2022

Works by students of the Warsaw School Complex No. 14 from June 7 this year at APS. We invite you to the opening of the ecological exhibition in the exhibition space in front of auditorium C at 12:00 pm.

Among the important events related to the Academy's social responsibility, including APS joining the signatories of the Declaration of Social Responsibility of Universities (SOU) and the upcoming environmental conference organized by Dr. Ligia Tuszynska, Prof. APS (Department of Education for Sustainable Development), will be held at the Academy with the exhibition "Donate your smartphone to..."

The initiator of the exhibition is APS alumnus Dr. Krzysztof Lewandowski, a WSEiZ professor and teacher at School Complex No. 14. At the beginning of the pandemic, Mr. Lewandowski encouraged his friends on social media to donate unused computer equipment to students. Seeing the impact of positive actions, he surveyed friends and companies about the number of unneeded cell phones they owned. After many conversations, he realized that most people are willing to donate unused smartphones, but different people want to donate their property to different causes. Therefore, Dr. Lewandowski and the students of ZS 14 decided to propose a number of purposes for which unwanted cell phones could be donated. The ideas were presented in the form of posters.

The exhibition "Donate a smartphone to..." consists of works by students of the digital graphics and printing classes, as well as this year's high school graduates of the School Complex No. 14 in Warsaw. Among the students are people searching for their own place, having social or psycho-physical dysfunctions, but able to come to terms with it and in some cases turn it to their advantage. The authors of the works, however, are primarily people with a passion for art and very sensitive to social problems. Supporting the students were - the originator of the exhibition Dr. Krzysztof Lewandowski, professor at WSEiZ, and Dr. Magdalena Pastuszak and the staff of professional subjects, including Maja Chłopaś, a graduate of the art faculty at APS, and Michal Wasiura, a polygraph and applied graphics designer.

We will be able to see the effect of the work of the students of the Prague School Complex from June 7 at the Maria Grzegorzewska Academy of Special Education, thanks to APS Rector Barbara Marcinkowska, Ph.D., and APS Vice Rector for Sustainable Development Anna Odrowąż-Coates, Ph.D., APS professor, who trust that the exhibition, which is part of the sustainable development activities at APS, can be important in shaping pro-environmental attitudes among several generations of the Academy community.
