Accessibility

At the Maria Grzegorzewska University there is a Rector's Plenipotentiary for Persons with Disabilities, who supports students with disabilities to access full participation in the educational process on an equal basis.

All assistance is aimed only at providing equal opportunities, without reducing the content requirements set out in the study programmes, and the support offered is always tailored to the individual needs of the student.

The use of support is voluntary, so persons who do not wish to inform the University about their health condition are not obliged to do so. Informing the University is essential in order to benefit from forms of adjustment or/and dedicated financial support. Any health information provided is treated confidentially and is not passed on to unauthorised persons.

On the basis of documentation and conversation, individual solutions and forms of adaptation of the learning process are determined together with the student.

What support can a student request?

  1. Adjusting exams
Depending on individual needs and upon agreement between the student and lecturer, examinations and assignments can be carried out in an adapted form. These are usually tests with enlarged printouts, extended examination time or split into stages, a change of form from written to oral or the other way round.
  2. Digital materials and presentations from lectures
Students can receive materials presented in electronic forms from lecturers during classes.
  3. Support of the scientific and methodological assistant
The assistant supports a student with a disability to overcome difficulties in the completion of all the requirements of the study programme. The support is usually provided in the form of additional consultations with the course tutor or another academic and teaching staff member of the university who is a specialist in the relevant field.
  4. Rental of assistive equipment
Students with disabilities can borrow equipment to support the learning process free of charge.
  5. Psychological counselling at the Academic Psychological Clinic (APP)
Students in crisis situations can receive psychological counselling at the University. The counselling is fully anonymous and is carried out by experienced psychologists and psychotherapists.
  6. Physical education
We offer adapted sports activities for our students. The university is equipped with adapted training equipment, and the staff of the physical education and sports studies have extensive knowledge in conducting adapted sports activities.
